Since we’ve taken so many trips and cruises together, we have become pros at packing. We thought we’d share some tips with you all. Make a list It sounds simple, but in the weeks leading up to your departure date you should write up a list. This way you don’t forget things on the fly… and can make sure you pack everything to take home at the end of the vacation. Also, if your luggage gets lost, you’ll have a list of everything you had packed. Ziplock baggies If you have anything that could possibly leak, such as shampoo or soap, place them into a Ziplock baggie. This will help keep any liquids from spilling out all over your other items. Tape your toiletries Anything with a lid or cap on it, tape the lids shut to prevent leakage. Don’t forget to tape the hairspray lid, as well. Tags inside the bag, not just outside If you place a luggage tag on the inside also, you’ll have that extra identification if your outside tag falls off. Put something unique on your bag Everyone is using ribbons on the handle now. Try putting a unique sticker on it, buying a unique color, or even adding some paint to the luggage. This will keep yours easily identifiable from everyone else’s! Make $$$$$ In The Billion Dollar Travel Industry...Guaranteed! Air Travel Secrets. WorkOnline4Pay.com - Work Online At Home. I hear a lot about the ziplock bag thing but mostly in the context that it is a requirement to put gels/liquids in a ziplock bag due to “security” reasons. I’m thinking that the ziplock bag as a security requirement is just urban legend. It’s just convenient. MrBuzz - January 20, 2008 @ 4:45 pm Anoher thing to watch outfor is to pack your bags neatly on the way home. I set off earlier this week with two bags and ended up coming home with 3 full ones. It’s all because I tred to pack my bag in about 0 minutes. A vey good thing to get is a dry bag used by watersportsmen. They’re ver rbust and protect your luggage from water and such. I haven’t tried this one fo eal yet: Instead of folding your T-shirts individualy you can lay them on top of each other and then roll them. This prevents reases aswell. Stukov - January 21, 2008 @ 4:13 pm All of these tips are GREAT, but I also suggest packing a small bag of all your toiletries. For instance, getting a bag say the size of a fanny pack, and putting all your face washes, toothbrushes, toothpaste (which you can’t take on a flight anymore… sad), and any other little things that you would put in the bathroom. All of them together in one little pouch makes it a lot easier. That’s about all that I would add. Snakeyes11 - January 22, 2008 @ 8:44 pm I always pack lightly. I don’t pack a lot of stuff, I usually just pack the essentials like a toothbrush and clothes. Those are usually the only things I need. If I am going to bring my PSP or iPod, I either bring it in the car and leave it in the glove capartment or in a secret area. If I’m bringing it on a plane I bring a seperate bag for my electronics such as the following of my PSP and iPod and even my laptop. Make sure you get a screen protector or a pouch for your batteries and usb cables and so on. Bring your charger as well. It may not hurt to also bring a book a long for the ride as well. JamesL - January 23, 2008 @ 11:11 am That’s a good, solid list of tips. They really do help a lot, especially making your bag unique. Sometimes, companies give away (free advertising) bands to put on the luggage which are usually bright colors. They can be seen from quite a distance, and if another person has a similar band, it has the name of your workplace on it! But, Chris, you forgot the most important of all. Leave the gun…pack the Cannoli. What Do You Think? RSS feed for comments on this post Recent Discussion Ontario Emperor: Do You Like Taking Road Trips?
